Second piece in the series of Wordy Flowers.
I am still playing around with watercolor here before I jump wholeheartedly into wordiness. I think it works quite well here, the fragile filaments that give in to the harsh contrast of the petals.
I enjoy very much the idea that these flowers speak to you in actual words. Making the shades and shapes this way, the areas where the text is dense, accumulated and repeated over and over imbue the flowers with insistence and urgency. In my mind, they are shouting.
I will allow myself a little cheekiness and not tell you what the line of text is. Just for those of you who enjoy discovering things like this on your own. I will give you a hint: it’s a line from an especially thoughtful poem by an all time master of prosody and substance.
